MLK Day of Service: Community Weatherization
We have a dream... 42 homes winterized in 5 hours!

Add to your calendar
Date: January 21, 12:00 pm
Continues Until:
Location: Crested Butte Cooperative
Details:

After a long struggle, legislation was signed in 1983 creating a federal holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service and charged the Corporation for National and Community Service with leading this effort. The MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service.

On January 21st from 12PM-5PM, the King Holiday, the WHWT, ORE, GCEA and the Green Team will utilize the funds raised from the dance party at the Dogwood on January 19th to winterize 42 homes in greater Crested Butte. The Green Team will learn basic skills and techniques for installing weather-stripping, insulation, and other energy efficiency measures that are proven to conserve resources. The Energy Smart Experts will also provide information about free Quick-Fix items, rebates, financing projects, energy saving recommendations and local contractors.

To schedule a weatherization appointment or to volunteer on the Green Team, please contact crystal@coalcreek.org.
