The Thompson Divide Coalition, a broad-based group of sportsmen, ranchers, recreational users, and local governments, will hold a public meeting in Crested Butte on Wednesday, March 27th at 6:00 PM to update the public on current developments in the Thompson Divide.
The Thompson Divide spans 51,700 acres of public lands in Gunnison County and the Coalition is working to secure permanent protection from oil and gas development in the area. The Coalition is currently working to pass federal legislation withdrawing unleased acreage in the area from future development and is also working to find a market-based solution by purchasing and retiring existing leases in the area.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend and learn how ranching, hunting, and recreation can be preserved in this special place. The meeting held in the “Meeting Room Junior” at the Crested Butte Town Hall, 507 Maroon Ave.
