Batiking, a resist-based dying technique from Indonesia, is a fun and approachable art medium that yields gorgeous, organic designs on fabric. In this course students will step through the process from start to finish while focusing on the history of Indonesian patterns and texturing methods. By the end of the six weeks students will go home with a series of hand-made pieces that can be used in quilting or sewing, serve as home décor or be given as a gift. No prior experience is necessary and all supplies are included in the cost of the course. $140 Includes all supplies. Gunnison Arts Center Art Studio. Instructor: Gail Sovick. Register for this class by visiting the Extended Studies website at www.western.edu/academics/extended-studies, by calling (970) 943-2885 or by visiting the Extended Studies office at 303 Taylor.
