March 30, 2013 - The West Elk Word talks with Zane Kessler of Carbondale-based Thompson Divide Coalition, who is working to protect forest areas just west of Carbondale from oil and gas development. Music Director Grant McFarren also takes a look at the latest effort from The Strokes titled "Comedown Machine."

March 2, 2013 - The West Elk Word features The Public Policy Forums' Winter speaker Dr. Trita Parsi. Dr. Parsi is an award-winning author of "A Roll of the Dice, Obama's Diplomacy With Iran." Dr. Parsi is the founder and president of the National Iranian American Council and is an expert on US-Iranian relations, Iranian politics, and Middle - East Politics.

February 23, 2013 - This week on the West Elk Word, we join a program from sister-station KRCC (Colorado Springs) called "Western Skies." Reporters Andrea Chalfin and Bente Birkelend look at the statewide issue of fracking with guests from both sides of the debate.

February 9, 2013 - The West Elk Word talks with Joan Grant. She works with the Department of Human Services in Gunnison and Hinsdale Counties. Today we talk about the foster parent program.

January 26, 2013 - The West Elk Word talks with Tina McGuinness, Executive Director of Gunnison Country Partners, a youth mentoring service for Hinsdale and Gunnison Counties. January is National Mentoring Month.
