This episode of Community Matters was originally broadcast on Monday, August 22. It featured two conversations with three town planners in the North Gunnison Valley.

Hilary Seminick is the Deputy Community Development Director for the Town of Mt. Crested Butte. Troy Russ is the Community Development Director for the Town of Crested Butte. Mel Yemma is Crested Butte’s Long Range Planner.

Both towns have recently completed draft versions of their Master Plans and are seeking public input.

Part One: Mt. Crested Butte

The Mt. Crested Butte 2022 Draft Mast Plan was made available to the public Monday. It’s been 15 years since the Plan’s last update, and this new version seeks to address numerous issues that have accumulated over that time. Housing, transportation, and place-making floated to the top of the list.

Part Two: Crested Butte

The Draft Crested Butte Community Compass was made public last week. It’s the result of a months-long effort by town staff to gather feedback from the community, isolate core values of its residents, and determine a framework for decision-making based on those values. It also lays out goals for the next five years.
