Erica Rasmussen of the Community Foundation of the Gunnison gives an update the Foundations efforts to support the community during the pandemic, including a joint effort with Gunnison Valley Health and local law enforcement that would have a behavioral health specialist assisting on calls related to mental health.

Than Acuff, sportswriter for the Crested Butte news, Host of the Sports Barrel on KBUT, and varsity boys soccer for the Crested Butte Community School. He talked about local sports during the pandemic.

Historian Duane Vandenbusche is a professor at Western Colorado University, host of Tales of the Gunnison Country on KBUT, and one of the Gunnison Valley’s most beloved storytellers. He is also now the State Historian for Colorado, the first ever from the Western Slope.

Pt. 1: Community Foundation tackles mental crisis and more.

Erica Rasmussen of the Community Foundation of the Gunnison gives an update the Foundations efforts to support the community during the pandemic.

She announced that the Foundation had recently dispersed its largest donation ever, a gift of $80,000 to the Gunnison Valley Health Foundation. It will serve as a catalyst to begin a joint effort with Gunnison Valley Health and local law enforcement that would have a behavioral health specialist assisting on calls related to mental health.

According to press release about the initiative, substance abuse and mental health related calls are up 500 percent locally in the past six months.
