The Crested Butte Community School was placed under a “lockout” Monday morning that has since been lifted. It was prompted by a series of social media posts by an unnamed individual.
The Mt. Crested Butte Police Department conducted a welfare check on an individual around midnight on Monday. Later that morning, school officials were told about the posts and enacted a lockout that lasted from just past 9:00 a.m. to about 10:45 a.m.
According to the School District, schools will remain in “heightened awareness,” which means information is forthcoming while police authorities investigate.
