Gov. Jared Polis is urging the cancellation of large public gatherings as several more COVID-19 cases are reported around the state.
At a meeting of the incident command team Friday morning, a variable who’s who of emergency responders in Gunnison Valley scrambled to coordinate messaging, sure up gaps in operation, and find ways to protect the region’s elderly and infirm.
State Health officials have identified two residents of Gunnison County that test positive for COVID-19. Both patients are females in their fifties who likely contracted the virus while traveling within the United States. They’re both currently isolated within Gunnison County.
The initial case of COVID-19 that tested positive in Gunnison County will be re-classified as a Denver case because that is where the patient lives and is currently isolated. Health officials initially reported incorrectly that the woman was a part-time resident of Gunnison.
