Dr. Heidi Steltzer is an environmental researcher, educator and science communicator. A self-described Mountain Scientist, whose research includes areas in the Gunnison Valley. She was a lead author for a section on High Mountain Areas In a recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report. She’s also testified before Congress on the climate crisis. She is a professor in the Department of Environment and Sustainability at Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colorado.
In addition to her research, Steltzer works extensively with writers, journalists, storytellers, and every-day people to establish common narratives and find shared connections to the environment. Steltzer hopes to use narrative to inspire climate change awareness and action.
